Comments on article on Eva Hesse's work

Among Eva Hesse's work, the sculptures(one image- page 20) with ropes and strings have been my favorite. They are 3D drawings to me. She is one of the artists who have freed line from representation, releasing it into space effectively. Since I use threads and strings in my own work often, I was very inspired by reading the observations on ropes and strings in Eva Hesse's work from page 18-20. The author wrote: ----ropes functioning as a denial of separation as an extension of communication, and as a symbol of union. String can be looked upon as an extension of all other techniques of communication. String joins just as it also helps in the wrapping up of objects and in the holding of unintegrated material.....
Here is another artist, Gego. She made drawings without paper.

  1. We saw the Gego show at the Drawing Center last year. She was a revelation to me.
